About Rush

Rush is a chance for prospective members to meet the brothers in a fun and relaxing environment. It takes place at the beginning of each semester and consists of several events, listed below. Freshman are not allowed to take part in rushing or pledging with any fraternity in the fall semester, per Washington University Greek Life Office regulations. For more information, please contact one of our Rush Chairmen: Daniel Fishman, Chad Gant, or Paul Kim.

A Statement About Hazing

Hazing runs contrary to any concept of brotherhood. Hazing is wrong. Hazing demoralizes, creates a false sense of "respect" for members, creates poor brothers and adds nothing towards becoming a better man.

The only way a member can get respect is to earn it. Good brothers are educated to be responsible brothers and better men, not "trained" or "hazed." It is for these reasons that the Fraternity has such a strong policy against hazing.

Conduct which represents hazing is illegal. Most jurisdictions have laws which make hazing a crime. Universities and colleges prohibit hazing, often with expulsion from school as a sanction. Kappa Sigma will remove brothers from membership in the Fraternity for violations of Kappa Sigma standards of conduct or local or university rules on hazing.
