What is Mixed?
Mixed is student-inspired and student-run cultural group that celebrates
and raises awareness of
multiracial and multiethnic people, identity and experiences.
Our group strives to provide the mixed individuals at WashU with a supportive social community founded on personal connections and a forum where anyone can feel safe to share their experiences with the unique challenges that being mixed entails. Mixed is committed to establishing and developing alliances with other social and cultural groups on campus, as well as seeking to connect to the greater St. Louis community and working with the admissions department to encourage an increase in mixed student interest in the university. The world is a mixed place and diversity is a wonderful aspect of everyday life, and therefore, open our group to anyone and everyone.
We invite EVERYONE to join this group, especially:
- those with mixed race roots- those who want to encourage more diversity and integration
- those who are interested in other ethnic cultures and the mixed-race culture
- those who enjoy the company of all shapes, sizes, colors, and sexual orientations
- those who like to be surrounded by a conversation interwoven with all types of languages and dialects
- and especially those who like to eat all types of ethnic foods.
