You may have seen us selling you ice cream. Or maybe we accosted you at the Activities Fair, bribing you with candy or pizza to come to a meeting. You may have seen our flyers in your classes or on the walls of your dorms . . .

Spires is an intercollegiate literary magazine based at Washington University. We welcome submissions of fiction, poetry, and art from undergraduates everywhere. Each semester, at the end of a grueling editorial process, we publish a magazine.

We also sponsor a speaker series. Poet C.D. Wright was here in Fall 2006, Amy Hempel (author of Reasons to Live and, most recently, The Dog of the Marriage) was here in Fall 2005, and author Paul Lafarge spoke last spring. In the past, Spires has helped sponsor on-campus lectures by Seamus Heaney, Kurt Vonnegut, Neil Gaiman, and others.
