Welcome to V-Day at Washington University! We are a group of students concerned about the reality of violence against women and girls on this campus, in this country, and across the world. Our mission is to raise awareness about this issue and also to raise money for community organizations committed to ending violence against women. Now in its fifth year, V-Day at Washington University will be holding our annual performance of Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues in Graham Chapel -- February 15, 16, and 17 -- 8:00pm as the central part of our campaign. We also will be organizing many other exciting programs (e.g. workshops, forums, and concerts) for the Washington University community.
We believe that violence against women works in conjunction with other forms of oppression such as racism, homophobia, and classism. We hope to inspire our community to find ways to challenge all of these issues, because as the poet Audre Lorde once said, "There is no such thing as a single-issue struggle because we do not live single-issue lives." We challenge ourselves to organize a meaningful campaign that is relevant to both women and men, regardless of race, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation, religion, or national origin.
Please join us and help V-Day make a difference.
